Thing 5

School 2.0 means that children will have an extended teacher.  They can not only learn from the teacher, but they can learn from themselves also.  Te children we have today need variety in learning.  Web 2.0 offers just that.  To me this means success for all children.  Slow learners can work at their own pace without the pressures of someone knowing that they have a learning disability.  School 2.0 means progress.  As educators we are preparing children to enter the world to lead.  How can they lead if they have not been taught to use the latest technology to benefit the company?
Schools and libraries of the future will be able to offer children a more diverse selection of learning.  They will be able to offer every child a plethora of ways to learn.  This is important for the ADHD children, emotional problem and autistic children.  This will also enable parents to be more involved in what their child is learning and become more supportive of it because they can help them at home with online learning.
In the article Web 2.0 Is the Future of Education I feel that we have arrived from what the web use to be.  I don't think we are ahead of what children are already doing, I actually think we are behind the curve.  The world has taken technology by the hand and has made it a vital part of our daily lives.
In the article titled New Literacies: Enrichment or Essential I think it is important to understand that things dealing with technology change continuously.  It is important to continue to study the new things that arise.  That is why I feel that these things are enriching.  Learning new things broadens the mind and makes us think. However, I also feel that technology is essential to our existence.  Imagine living without your cell phone, microwave, or even your stove.  well our ancestors did live without them but now that we have them they have become an essential part of our existence.  That is how we should look at technology.  It is here to stay just like fire.

23 things - very interesting observations on technology and future learning. I too believe that we have become so dependent on the technology that we have at our fingertips. Some of us (myself) are behind the curve as yo suggested. I'm trying to stay updated somewhat but I'm afraid that even high school kids would put me to shame. They know so much more than I do about computers, cell phones, ipods, youtubes, texting, etc., and they love technology. I'm scared to death of new technology and I'm quite sure that I'n having a difficult time staying up. I'm a work in progress and I know that our schools are moving faster that I am with the technology boom!

I enjoyed you post on thing #5.

I agree with you on technology being essential to our existence. When you really think about it when do we not use technology. I know I can't go a day without checking something out on the internet whether it is email, banking or something else. And my cell phone is more than just a phone - it is my address book, calendar, and notes of things to remember. I have always said I was born too early and I wish I was a student who was learning the School 2.0 way.
